Coraline by Neil Gaiman
This book is a story about a mysterious new house Coraline and her Parents had moved to. Coraline finds their new house dull and boring with nothing to do but wander around. She goes clothe shopping with her mum for school clothes. She soon finds a mysterious part of the wall in an empty room with a key hole in it. She asks her mum what the key opens to but she gets no response from her mother, Coraline then takes the key from the set of draws. Coraline cuts the outer edge of the small door with a knife revealing the door. Curiously, Coraline puts the key into the Key hole and opens the door which leads through a small yet long tunnel. Coraline chose to go through the small tunnel which lead to a room, similar to a room at her own home. She had noticed that it was similar and called for her parents. She could hear her mum call back to her from in the kitchen, so Coraline walked to the kitchen. She looked at her mum strangely. Her mum turned around and to Coraline's suprise, Her mother had Buttons for Eyes. She said nothing about it and carried on as if nothing was wrong. Life for Coraline seem't great at this side of the house as there was food provided for her and a cool talking cat. When it was time to sleep, Coraline went to bed but not at her real home but at the new home. Coraline fell asleep and when she woke up, She was awake on her bed at her real home. She gets up from the bed and spends the day with her Parents until night time when she climbs back thew the Tunnel. She spends a few nights with her "Other mother" until she finds out that the other mother wants to take Coraline's eyes and Sow buttons over Coraline's eyes. Coraline gets locked behind the mirror and when she finally escapes, she has to get out of the new world and back to her home.
I liked that the story was mysterious and I rate it 8/10
